ABOUT KAREN ROCK

Musical Background

Karen Rock is a graduate of the Hartt School at the University of Hartford, where she earned her Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Music Education. While at the Hartt School, Karen studied piano under Dr. Paul Rutman and was the president of the Womens’ Choir under the direction of Dr. Pamela Perry. 

 

Karen has been teaching private piano lessons in her home as well as teaching choral music and general music in the public schools for over 35 years. In the year 2000, she was featured in the Northeast magazine section of the Hartford Courant in an article, Gospel Truths, written by Cindy Brown Austin. In 2001 she received a Connecticut Bloomer Award for her work with the Teens of Praise Gospel Choir at Windsor High School. Karen also has a long history of solo and choral singing. She first began singing in school and  church choir at age eleven, and as a teen she earned the St. Cecelia Award from the Royal School of Church Music. She currently sings in the West Hartford Women's Chorale and Camerata, an audition-only chamber choir.
